Match report
Goals from fringe players Aaron Daniels and Davion Hamilton helped Halesowen move into a semi-final clash at Stourbridge’s War Memorial ground but clear-cut chances proved few and far between as a penetrating frost took hold during the evening.
A 2nd minute header from Matt Lewis was disallowed and after 14 minutes Bromsgrove’s Gary Hay was blocked after a cross from Neil Davis. Halesowen goalkeeper Chris Jay then took out a low cross from Danny Scheppell on the half-hour. Matt Lewis struck the side-netting for the Yeltz after 34 minutes after being set up by Simon Forsdick and a minute later another Lewis shot was deflected away.
The visitors missed a great chance in the 40th minute when Hay pulled the ball back but Schepell put the ball over the bar from just five yards. Three minutes before the interval Forsdick glanced a header over the Bromsgrove bar and on 44 minutes Dare Doyle struck a 20 yard shot just past Halesowen’s post.
Jay pulled off a terrific double save to deny Bromsgrove in the 55th minute by blocking Davis’s shot and then recovering to claw away the rebound from substitute Stuart Skidmore.
But Halesowen took the lead in the 66th minute when Davion Hamilton crossed from the left for the delighted DANIELS to flash home a close range header. Full-back Jason Powell then hit just wide in the 75th minute after picking up a Lee Williams pass. Lewis’s shot then looped just over the net off goalkeeper Adrian Summerhill and from the resulting 82nd minute corner the ball was headed on for HAMILTON to touch home the ball.
In the last kick off the game former Yeltz stalwart SKIDMORE struck home a 20-yard shot after a free-kick from the edge of the area rebounded off Halesowen’s defensive wall.
