Before their game at Bromsgrove, Halesowen were fourth in the league and their opponents third. The Town won this vital game after a very exciting match.
Halesowen can boast a fine away record - they have won five and lost one of their six games away from home. The visitors retained Timmington at inside-right with Johnson as substitute, while Rovers left out former Wolves, Villa and Blues player Bobby Thomson.
The home side suffered a set-back early on when Norman Deeley pulled a muscle and was replaced by substitute Davis. The solitary goal came in the 20th minute and followed a three man move. Crampton brought the ball nearly to the box before slipping it out to Anderson, whose centre from the right was met by Fullwood. Halesowen were playing good football at this stage and Wood was having a fine game and initiating most of the moves.

Rovers came out full of fight and really bombarded the visitors goal but bad finishing or stout defence prevented them from levelling the scores. Culwick again was a tower of strength in the middle and Pearson twice kicked off the line.
halesowen looked dangerous in breakaways with both Timmington and Williams going near with good shots. Culwick left the field after a blow on the nose, Johnson substituting. Bromsgrove maintained heavy pressure but could not find the net.
