Michael
...O`Mahoney profile

 |
Michael "Paddy" O`Mahoney was an Irish half back who joined Rovers as a professional player at the start of the 1945/46 season. He played in the first competitive post war game at the Victoria Ground and was a regular at right half for that campaign. He captained the side for most of the first half of the season.
He was part of a superb half back line with Joe Wainwright and Cliff Gallear in Rovers "Jubilee season", making 50 years of competing in the Birmingham Combination, when Rovers won the league, the Worcestershire Senior Cup and reached the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup.
He only missed 3 games in the 1947/48 season, which was once again a good one for Rovers when they reached the first round of the F.A. Cup, the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup and triumphed over Hereford United in the Worcestershire Senior Cup Final. Michael played in all these games.
An ankle injury put him out of action at the end of October 1948. But the Rovers vice-captain was back in the side after a months lay-off. On 26 February 1949 he was unavailable to play as he was getting married. His fellow players presented a tray of cutlery to him, whilst the club gave him a pair of blankets.
