Michael "Mike" McKenna was a professional player for Rovers in the 1945/46 season, when he was usually played at left half.

His fine performances were acknowledged by the fact he was picked to appear in a best of the Birmingham Combination XI to play champions Darlaston.

He joined Northampton Town in July 1946, where he went on to play 4 times for the first team.

He returned to the Rovers ranks in November 1947, where he usually played left half. He played in the Rovers first evre appearance in the first round proper of the F.A. Cup when they went down 2-1 away to Aldershot.

He signed for Darlaston in June 1948.
