Frank was an England schoolboy international, making his debut against Northern Ireland in Belfast on 11 May 1951. He made a number of appearances and played in a team captained by the great Duncan Edwards. He played in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley and scored the winning goal in a match against Scotland schoolboys.
He signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on his 17th birthday. he won two F.A. Youth Cup medals, losing to Manchester United both times. He did not quite make the grade at Wolves however and after 13 appearances in the reserves he was given a free transfer at the end of the 1954-55 season. After which he joined Bromsgrove Rovers.
He was a regular at right half for the next decade. In his time at the club he won a Birmingham League Winners Medal in the 1959/60 season, and appeared in 3 Worcestershire Senior Cup finals, winning one in 1961. He was undoubtedly one of finest players ever to play for the Rovers.
He left the Rovers in 1966, to play for Blackheath in the Staffordshire County League
