A centre forward, who had previously played for Marlbrook. He made his debut against Stirchley United, in the Birmingham Combination on 29 September 1910, but he was unable to command a regular position in the side.
He played for Droitwich at the start of the 1911/12 season before playing for the Rovers in October - he seemed to turn out for both teams during this campaign.
In the 1912/13 season he was used as a utility player, appearing in the forward, half back and back lines.
He played one final game in the first game of the 1913/14 Birmingham Combination campaign, against Birmingham Trams on 6 September 1913.
Away from football, prior to the First World War, he worked for the Midlands Railway Company.
During the war he was in the 8th Worcesters (Terrortorials) and whilst in the trenches on 3 January 1916 he suffered a direct hit from a German shell, killing him, and 7 other soldiers instantly.
He was just 28 years of age, and left behind a wife and three children, all girls, with the eldest aged just 8. His other two brothers had already perished in the war.
