Mason was a goalkeeper who joined Rovers at the start of the 1914/15 Birmingham Combination campaign. He lived in Northfield and had been playing in the Redditch Football League.
He was first choice goalkeeper during an ill-fated season, where the Rovers finished bottom of the Birmingham Combination. However, he was often praised for his fine performances.
After almost certainly serving in the First World War, he was back as first choice keeper, when football returned in the 1919/20 season. He was on occasion captain of the side during this campaign. However, he lost his place in the side in January to J. Dyer and never played for the Rovers again.
