...Salmon profile

Alfred Thomas Salmon, was a 6 foot 1 inch centre forward from Cotteridge, who joined Rovers at the start of the 1920-21 Birmingham Combination campaign, aged 22. He had previously served 4 years in the army in the Worcester Regiment

He made his debut in a 9-0 defeat away at Cannock Town on 28 August 1920. He was a prolific scorer in his short time with the Rovers, before he was transferred to Merthyr in January 1921 for £100.

He joined Worcester City at the start of the 1921/22 season, where he was allegedly paid £3 10s per game he played.

He was summoned to Ledbury Police Court in September 1921, accused by his wife, Ethel, of "wilfully neglecting to maintain his wife and infant son" It was reported he had fallen out of work in May 1921, presumably when his contract with Merthyr Town ended, and had sent his wife and child back to live with her parents in June and had contributed nothing to their upkeep since then. He had been working as a builders labourer and told his wife he only had 15s a week to keep himself with and although signed for Worcester City, he had not played for them. He was ordered to pay his wife 15s a week.

In the 1921-21 campaign he played for Halesowen Town.
