A goalkeeper who joined Rovers at the start of the 1933/34 season. He had previously played for Evesham Town.
He was ever present in his first two seasons with the Rovers and was often praised for his fine performances.
After playing 74 consecutive games he was dropped for the first time in September 1935. He was absent for only 2 games, before making the keepers jersey his own again. He made his 100th appearance for Rovers against Tamworth on 11 April 1936.
He dislocated his finger during the first half of a match with Banbury Spencer in January 1937. This required a quick visit to the hospital, after which he pluckily resumed at outside left. The crossbar denied him what would have been a memorable headed goal.
His place as number one goalkeeper was under threat in the 1936/37 season when he was one of 6 keepers used during a disappointing season for Rovers when they finished fourth from bottom of the Birmingham Combination. Oddly, in this campaign he also started a game against Tamworth in April as outside-left, only to revert to goalkeeper at half time.
Although he signed up for the 1937/38 season, he never appeared in the side.
In the 1938/39 season he was playing in the Redditch & District League for Terrys, where he played against Bromsgrove Rovers Reserves.
