Percy

...Bird profile

He joined Rovers as a left half early in the 1928/29 season. He had previously played for Blackheath Town.

He was obviously a very tricky customer, he was once described in the Messenger as "the Indiarubber man, whom it seems impossible to floor because of his agility". He had a fine first season with Rovers, moving to outside left at towards the end of the season.

In January 1928 he was picked to play for the Birmingham Combination in the annual inter league match against the London League.

He played in the final of the Worcestershire Senior Cup, against Worcester City, where Rovers lost 3-2.

He played in one additional game in the 1929/30 season.

In the 1930/31 and 1931/32 seasons he played for Old Hill based works side Burton Delingpole. He scored a hat-trick for them against Rovers Reserves in A Worcester League match in the 1930/31 campaign.
