A 5 foot 7 inch forward forward, who initially joined Bromsgrove at the start of the 1928/29 season, as a 17 year old, but he failed to make the side.
He was brought back to Bromsgrove in October 1929 but player-coach Frank Moss. In the 1929/30 season he had represented Coventry City in the London Combination and played local football for Cookley St. Peters.
He played in a match at the Victoria Ground against Bournville Athletic in November 1929, when his dad, Mr. W.T. Tranter, was the referee. He scored on that day, a good day for Bromsgrove who won 6-1.
