Frank Leslie Read was a diminutive outside left who joined Bromsgrove as an 18 year old from Fairfield Juniors. He was recommended to the club by R.E. Griffin, of Meadow Lane, Catshill. He was brought to the club by player coach Frank Moss in December 1929.
His spell with Bromsgrove was brief, as after 4 games he moved on to Kidderminster Harriers in the Birmingham League.
After Kidderminster he played for Redditch Town before returning to Rovers at the start of the 1938/39 season. He was unable to establish himself in the side and he returned to Fairfield.
