A centre half who joined Rovers from Darlaston in January 1932. He was a professional player. He was unable to establish himself in the side.
He returned for a second spell at Rovers in the 1933/34 campaign having been out of the game for a good while due to ill health and he was a mainstay of the half back line for the next three seasons.
