A forward who joined Rovers in November 1935. He had previously played for Atherstone Town and West Bromwich Albion "A". He usually played at inside-right.
He was a cousin of Ted Sandford, the West Bromwich Albion inside left and also a prominent Birmingham League cricketer who played for West Bromwich Dartmouth.
Sadly, he died in April 1948, whilst on holiday in Wales with his wife and 3 year old child. He was found in a pool with injuries to his throat. He had been ill for some time.
