MATCH REPORT FROM THE BROMSGROVE MESSENGER
At Bromsgrove on Saturday, the attendance approaching 1000. The Rovers won the toss, and set the visitors to kick down the slope, with the sun in their eyes. Halesowen were the first to show up, but their attacks were not pressed home. Share was called upon to save from Rawbone and Salmon. A centre from Rawbone afforded a good opening, but Pate over-ran the ball with only the custodian to beat. Following a foul, Rawbone centred, and Satchwell landed a goal with a beautiful header. (1-0.) The Rovers pressed without result, and play being transferred Gwillam saved, but a moment later was beaten at short range by Blakemore. (1-1). The defence on both sides was severely tried, and half-time came with the score: Bromsgrove 1, Halesowen 1. The second half opened tamely. The visitors appeared to the greater advantage, and Basterfield found the side net. Two corners fell to Halesowen in quick succession, and Brookes, being let in by Satchwell, placed his side ahead. (1-2.) Gwillam stopped a good one from Blakemore, and then the Rovers attacked hotly. Shore negotiated good shots from Pate and Rawbone. Following a corner, Jew placed the ball nicely, and Salmon rushed in and equalised. (2-2.) Bromsgrove played up hard. Pate forced Shore to concede a corner, and a good movement initiated by Salmon was checked by offside. Share saved a good one from Jew. At the other end Burton robbed Owen when he looked like getting through, and Gwillam dealt with a shot from Blakemore. Result: Bromsgrove 2, Halesowen 2.
