Halesowen Preview

Tuesday night?s local derby looks like being a crunch match for both Halesowen and Rovers as they both try to find a win. Rovers haven?t recorded a win in their last 5 outings and for the Yeltz it is 6 games since they thrashed Kings Lynn 4 ? 1. In contrast to Rovers Halesowen have managed 4 draws since Morrell Maison took over from Martin O?Connor and Big Ron was taken on as adviser.

Since taking over Morell?s door has revolved faster than Rod Brown?s infamous one and the Yeltz have recruited the likes of Darren Caskey from Kettering on loan and a number of overseas players and people who have played for Morrell previously. According to the Halesowen squad list they have signed 9 players since the beginning of October and apparently there are more to come.

The avowd intention of the new consortium for Halesowen is to make the Conference in two seasons so they?ll be looking for the new team to blend together quickly. Of course, having signed lots of players a number have also left the Grove and Gary Knight will make an immediate return to his old club but this time in a Rovers shirt.

As a consequence of so many new faces at Halesowen we are unlikely to see many ex-Rovers in the line-up tonight . Only Lee Williams has been making first team appearances recently although I understand he was on the bench at the weekend.

For Rovers there is no news on Kev Banner?s injury and Les Hines is not expected to play. There is also no news on new signings so far this week although Redditch have apparently released Damien Markman who Rod enquired about a couple of weeks ago.

Bet 365 fancy the Yeltz for this one in a fairly open market as they currently lie at 2/1 with Rovers at 3/1 and 3.5/1 the draw. Given both teams inability to win the value might be in a correct score draw forecast with 0 ? 0 at 11/1, 1 ? 1 at 7/1, 2-2 at 13/1 and 66/1 for our second 3-3 in a row.

If there are no last minute changes to catch this correspondent out the Officials for the game should be Referee Martin Dexter from Leicester, assisted by Craig Gee from Bedworth and Gary Loades from Hinckley.
